Officer who committed suicide blamed woman for his woes

An Administration Police officer who committed suicide on Sunday morning in Nairobi’s Umoja Estate blamed a woman for his woes.

It has emerged that prior to the unfortunate incident, the officer, Jonah Kimani, penned down a suicide note and even mentioned the woman in a WhatsApp conversation in the wee hours of Sunday morning.

“When I die there is a Turkana lady from Lokichar who have (sic) killed me, familia ya akina Hilda,” he wrote.

A colleague reached out to him and asked him to take some time off work but there was no response.

A few hours later, a gunshot was heard from his house and when his colleagues rushed to see what was happening, they found him lying in bed with blood oozing from his neck.

Beside his body was a suicide note that detailed the identity of the said woman.

The note showed the officer had a son and a daughter barely a year old. The officer instructed that his daughter be given all his shares "even if she is seven-months-old."

He named the woman, saying she hailed from Turkana South. “God forgive me because it is not my wish to die young. But whoever is the cause of my death let her not rest even a single minute.”

His death came just days after another officer, Hellen Kwamboka, was found murdered at her home in the same estate.

According to police, the deceased was an officer based at the Parliament Police Station and left work on Thursday May 23, at around 7pm.?

She was expected to report to work the following day in the morning but when colleagues tried to reach her there was no response.

Her phone had been switched off and police immediately started looking for her.

Upon reaching her house in Umoja Estate, officers realized that it was locked and suspected something was amiss.

They then broke into the house and found Kwamboka’s lifeless body on the bed.
