A man attacked his wife and her two siblings in Elwanda village, Butula constituency, before killing himself.

The victims were rushed to the Busia Referral Hospital. The three are Irene Akinyi, the wife of the attacker, her sister and their younger brother.

Collins Odongo is said to have attacked the three at his in-law's home in the wee hours of Wednesday.

He later hanged himself in his home in Mundasia village, which is not far away from Elwanda.

Speaking to The Standard on Thursday from her hospital bed, Akinyi said her husband wanted Sh50,000 loan from a Shylock to buy a motorbike but she objected on grounds that repayment would be a challenge.

A quarrel ensued and on Monday she left for her ancestral home after receiving death threat from her husband.
