“The guy is a legend such a great talent,” added another

President Uhuru Kenyatta on Wednesday congratulated Muhammadu Buhari on his re-election as President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria but a section of internet users jokingly asked him to also commend the men who impersonated him.

Earlier this week, seven people were arraigned in court for defrauding a Nairobi businessman Sh10 million after mimicking the President’s voice.

The seven; Joseph Waswa, Duncan Muchai, Isaac Wajekeche, William Simiyu, David Luganya, Gilbert Kirunja, and Anthony Wafula were arrested last week and are belived to be part of a cartel that conned officials from Sameer Group of Companies.

Their bravery left many wondering how they came up with such an audacious plan, going as far as invoking the President’s name.

“Congratulate the guy who mimicked your voice and swindled Merali for his bravery,” wrote one Facebook user.

“The guy is a legend such a great talent,” added another.

“Ama hii pia ni account ya huyo jamaa (maybe this account also belongs to the impostor)” wondered another.

The suspects are said to be well organized and have mastered the art of mimicking President Uhuru's voice to near perfection.

Investigators say the conmen also masquerade as senior State House officials.

They reportedly call businessmen interested in doing business with the government, where the caller imitates Uhuru and even speaks in a voice similar to that of the President.
