It was double tragedy for a family in Namunyiri village, Bungoma County after a relative was killed at a funeral in a fight over money.

Local politicians had given an offering to help the bereaved family settle some of the bills, but a fight erupted, with each member demanding a share of the offering.

The family of Joshua Musimisi had planned to give him a decent send off after he was murdered by unknown assailants.

But while at it, chaos erupted after local leaders, led by Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula, Governor Wycliffe Wangamati and the area MCA handed a sum of Sh100,000 to the bereaved wife as a token of consolation.

As soon as the leaders left, a commotion erupted when the brothers to the deceased ordered the widow to give them the money that had been handed to her.

However, the deceased’s wife, Sophy Musimisi instead gave the money to her younger brother, Kevin Wanyonyi who attempted to run away to hide it. Unfortunately, he was pursued, beaten and killed.
