Kirinyaga governor Anne Waiguru has refuted claims of a fallout between her and the county assembly.

She said differences between her and a few ward reps should not be misconstrued to mean differences with the entire assembly.

“I am aware there has been speculation that am not in good terms with the assembly but differing in opinion with one or two MCAs is a sign of the existing democratic space,” she said.

Last week, some ward reps threatened to impeach Waiguru after she slashed a Sh70 million bursary fund to Sh40 million. But the governor downplayed the threat, accusing some ward reps of plotting to control the bursary fund.

“Some individual dissenting voice cannot be said to the stand or position of the entire Assembly comprising of 33 members," she said.
