Eric Omondi releases clean version of ‘Stick’

Comedian Eric Omondi on Friday amused his fans by posting a ‘clean’ version of the song Stick by Khaligraph Jones.

In the video, he was rapping in front of a Range Rover and was flanked by a lady who blushed at every line he dropped.

This comes after social media was abuzz following a video of Papa Jones serenading Betty Kyalo with lewd lines from his song.

The video elicited heated online debate on whether local artistes had lost relevance and added more fuel to the fire regarding the issue of giving prominence to foreign music.

For a couple of months now, local artistes have complained that DJs and radio presenters downplay local music, something that is slowly killing the industry.

While some stated there are audiences that appreciate such music, others expressed their disgust at how society is losing values.

Several songs by Bongo artistes were also labeled as raunchy but in their defense, their fans argued that the musicians skillfully play around with words to ensure they are not ‘too obvious’.
