Man walks into police station and tells officers he 'drowned daughter in pond'

A father walked into a police station and confessed to drowning his daughter in a pond after feeling "stressed" about Christmas, according to a police report.

Officers in Northwestern Missouri, America, found a six-month-old girl alive in a pond floating on her back just minutes after Jonathon Zicarelli apparently confessed.

The 28-year-old father told officers at Greenwood Police Department’s office he tried drowning his daughter because he was "stressed" by the holiday season and wanted to make things easier for his wife, reports Alboe News.

The baby girl was found with grass in her mouth, mud in her eyes and water in her lungs after an estimated 10 minutes in the pond water.

Police Chief Greg Hallgrimson said the baby looked like a “porcelain doll” and appeared to be in a severe state of shock.

Officers at the scene took off their uniform shirts to wrap the baby girl in before a local fire department transferred her to hospital.

She was treated for hypothermia, but is said to be in a good condition.

Zicarelli was arrested and charged on Monday with domestic assault.

Reporter at FOX-4 Kansas City, Kera Mashek tweeted Zicarelli was "now in jail"
