Lionel Messi has ensured he can travel in style after splashing the cash on a new luxury private jet.

The 31-year-old Barcelona icon has reportedly leased the incredible plane so his family and friends can travel around in comfort.

And the £12million (Sh1.4 billion) jet, being leased from an Argentine company, includes some incredible attention to detail.

The exterior sees the tail branded with his signature number 10, whilst the names of him his wife, Antonello, and their three children, Thiago, Ciro and Mateo, are written on the steps.

A plane of the specs of Messi's purchase includes a kitchen, two bathrooms and 16 seats that can be turned into eight beds to sleep through the night.

Despite missing out on the Balon d'Or recently, the Barcelona superstar is still flying high and bagged two stunning free-kicks in a 4-0 win over local rivals Espanyol last weekend.

He then attended the Copa Libertadores final with his son as River Plate edged the all-Argentinian showdown with Boca Juniors in extra time.          

He reportedly earns just over £500,000 (Sh58 million) week as part of his Barcelona mega-deal signed last year, so he has the money to treat himself and his family.

It now appears he could enjoy more jet-setting in his spare time without the risk of getting run-down by travel as he gets around in the comfort of his swanky new mode of transport.

 The vehicle has 16 seats.
