What to wear to a Halloween party

Living

As the world becomes connected into one huge village, cultures are slowly exchanged between continents. With easy access to internet and all, we have now learnt of celebrations like Halloween and are slowly incorporating them into our calendar.

Halloween, Allhalloween, All Hallows' Eve or simply All Saints' Eve is an annual holiday celebrated each year on October 31. This day, which falls on a Wednesday this year, is dedicated to remembering the dead, including saints (hallows), martyrs, and all the faithful departed.  Christians have for ages marked the day with practices like praying, fasting and attending worship services.

The origin and meaning of Halloween is derived from ancient Celtic harvest festivals and has been marked for many years in Western cultures by lighting bonfires, playing trick or treat (a game where people are given treats such as candy to prevent them from playing tricks on others), carving pumpkins into jack-o'-lanterns, taking flowers to the graves of departed loved ones among others.

One major way people mark Halloween is by dressing up, usually in clothes they wouldn’t wear on normal days. The day is also characterized by disguise by wearing masks which adds more fun to the treat or trick game.

If you’re invited to a Halloween party, don’t fret over what to show up in. Here’s some of the few things you could wear;

Black dresses that are often paired with spooky accessories

Extreme makeup

Batwings usually made from black fabric

Face masks

Hilarious outfits

Food dress ups sewn to resemble common food

Assorted accessories and shoes

Favourite cartoon characters especially for kids
