DPP orders prosecution of Jowie, Maribe

The Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Noordin Haji has ordered that Jacque Maribe and Joseph Irungu aka Jowie be charged with the murder of Monica Kimani.

Through a statement on his official Twitter page, Haji noted that he had reviewed the evidence on record and there exists a prima facie case to warrant criminal prosecution against the two.

“The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) received a report in respect to the death of Monica Kimani that occurred at Lamuria Gardens…

“I immediately constituted a team of prosecutors to guide the DCI officers during investigations. On the 8th day of October 2018, the DCI forwarded a copy of the police.

“I have therefore directed that they be immediately arraigned before the High Court and charged accordingly,” read the statement.

Monica was found dead in her apartment in Nairobi’s Kilimani area with her throat slit.

Police are yet to determine the motive of the killing could be money or love gone sour.

Jowie’s parents spoke on Sunday and reiterated that their son is innocent. They further stated that neighbours have been treating them differently since the case started and just want the truth to be revealed.
