NGO Protests Obado should face double murder charge

The decision to omit the murder of Sharon Otieno’s baby from the charges Migori Governor Okoth Obado faces in court has led to a protest by a Non-Governmental Organisation against that decision.

The NGO has protested against the decision to omit murdered university student Sharon Otieno’s baby from the charge sheet, in the case against Migori Governor Okoth Obado.

CitizenGo has written to Director of Public Prosecutions and DCI George Kinoti protesting for ignoring the killing of the 7 months unborn baby.

The autopsy which was carried out on Friday 7th September revealed that Sharon was strangled, stabbed eight times and possibly raped by her assailants. Her unborn baby also stabbed.

The group argues that human life starts at conception and that the DCI should not disregard the fact that Sharon’s child was buried as a human being.

“We have followed with keen interest the court proceedings today against the suspected killers of the late Sharon Otieno. We were surprised that the charge sheet presented in the courts had errors and also omitted the fact that Sharon’s baby who was recently buried and named after her mother also was murdered,” the letter reads.

Obado is facing murder charges alongside his personal assistants Michael Juma Oyamo and Caspal Obiero.

A statement released bi the Directorate of criminal investigation (DCI) said Obado was to be charged with the offence of aiding and abetting the commission termed murder.

By Monday 8 a.m. Governor Obado was already at the court but the case was delayed since the court room had been booked for another case.
