Camara suffered a heart attack and died on the pitch moments after collapsing during training

A football player has died after a suspected heart attack during a practice session.

Mamadou Camara, 26, who played as a defender for French League side USON Mondeville, collapsed during one of their training sessions on Friday.

He was pronounced dead after both teams' coaching staff and paramedics spent few minutes trying to resuscitate him.

The club paid tribute to the player on Facebook, saying: "“Mamadou, we will keep you in our hearts forever. We will keep your name on our shirts.

“We will never forget the great person that you were, your charm, generosity, fighting spirit and joy for life.

“We are thinking with all our hearts of your wife, your child, your family and your friends, and we will be at their sides for ever. With love from your club.”

According to the Sun, Camara who originates from Senegal has a young child with his wife.
