Raila speaks on killing of Sharon Otieno

NASA leader Raila Odinga on Wednesday strongly condemned the abduction and killing of Rongo University student Sharon Otieno.

Through a twitter post, the Opposition Chief called for speedy investigations into the matter, asking the relevant authorities to bring to book those involved.

“I would like to call upon the relevant investigative agencies to move with speed to ensure that those involved in her killing are brought to book.

“May her soul rest in eternal peace,” he stated.

Earlier, Odinga had observed a minute of silence during a campaign briefing for the upcoming Migori Senatorial by-election.

Netizens were, however, far from impressed by Raila’s sentiments, asking him to boldly name the prime suspect.

“How many have been brought to book for killing Msando, Moraa and Pendo, that's a love affair gone sour!” said one Jared Opiyo.

“This were your exact words after Musando's death. Has anything been done about that?” asked Paul Nyongesa.

Sharon was found dead in Kodera Forest, Homa Bay County on Wednesday morning after she was reported missing earlier in the week.

The student had been abducted alongside Nation journalist Barrack Oduor, who managed to jump from the moving car at Nyangweso Market after suspecting something was amiss.

The journalist was pursuing a story implicating Migori Governor Okoth Obado in a love triangle but the governor has since distanced himself from the allegations.

His PA Michael Oyamo was however arrested in connection with the abduction and will aid police in investigations.
