How truck drivers beat system at weighbridge

Truck drivers and officials at one of the country’s Highway weighbridge have entered the unholy alliance, Grapevine has learned.

Our moles who operate along the Nairobi-Western route have informed us that drivers carrying excess loads have devised canny ways of dealing with “friendly” officers manning the now notorious facility that is used to weigh vehicles and their contents.

The drivers are said to stop their trucks some 200 meters away, have co-driver approach the officers before having “handshake and pleasantries”.

The co-driver then walk back to the vehicle and off they drive past the bridge without weighing the vehicle.

Can the relevant authorities crack the whip on this wayward officers?
