Raila Odinga’s role in efforts to save Wetang’ula revealed

National Super Alliance (NASA) leader Raila Odinga has called for crisis talks, summoning all senators affiliated to the coalition for a meeting to deliberate on Moses Wetang’ula’s removal from the Senate leader of Minority position.

According to an article seen on The Standard on Thursday, March 22, other Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) MP’s are considering taking out Chris Wamalwa, the Kiminini MP from the Deputy National Assembly Minority Whip position.

But Wamalwa has refused to comment on the matter, saying that he wasn’t aware of any move to oust him.

Senators affiliated to NASA coalition on Tuesday voted out the Ford Kenya leader and replaced him with Siaya Senator James Orengo.

This has seriously threatened the unity of NASA, with Kalonzo’s Wiper Party and Mudavadi’s Amani National Congress (ANC) refuting the changes made.

Kalonzo Musyoka asked Orengo to decline the promotion in order to safeguard the coalition’s unity, saying that the senator should be the person responsible for disintegrating NASA.

As seen in the Standard Kalonzo said, “We don’t have to get to that. I want to call upon my friend Jim Orengo to decline this nomination so that he doesn’t go down as the person who collapsed NASA.”

Wetang’ula has also insisted that he cannot go away so easily, warning of serious consequences should the coalition disintegrate.

On March 20, 19 NASA senators unanimously voted out Wetang’ula.
