Governor Sonko called Nairobi Wakanda
SUMMARY
  • Governor Sonko attracted numerous responses after comparing Nairobi city to Marvel's Wakanda
  • Many Kenyans on Twitter pointed out reasons asto why Nairobi is nowhere close to being Wakanda
  • The fictional Wakanda is known for its wealth and able warriors

Nairobi County Governor Mike Sonko threw social media into a frenzy when he compared the city to the fictional Wakanda country of Marvel’s latest release Black Panther. The Governor on Saturday, March posted a photoshopped image of leading characters Nakia, played by Kenyan actress Lupita Nyong’o and T'Challa with the caption Welcome to Nairobi City Lupita Nyong’o. This is the real Wakanda Kingdom.

In the Movie Black Panther, the Wakanda kingdom is rich as it owns a powerful extraterrestrial metal known as Vibranium. The metal’s powers give Wakanda’s warriors extraordinary abilities apart from fuelling the nation’s technological advancements.

His post came as Nairobi is experiencing floods with the heavy rains. Pictures have been circulating on social media platforms as Nairobians hustle to make ends meet despite the inconveniences caused by the dirty murky waters that are on every street.

Kenyans on Twitter pounced on his tweet reminding him how different Nairobi is from the said Wakanda Kingdom. Most of them found humour in his remark and responded with the same.

Here are some of the hilarious comments Governor Sonko received;

Just wish you’d busy yourself with what I need: Water & thoroughly dealing with Storm Drainage.
Then, I’d feel a whole lot better about you tweeting photoshopped images.— GMan ???? ???????? (@gatmanuk1) March 17, 2018
