He, however, noted that he is happy to be in touch with Mr. Igathe.

“Tungeendelea kuvumiliana as a team (We could have continued to persevere as a team), lakini watu wawili, watatu advisors walimmislead (however two, three advisors misled him) and I am sure today my deputy is regretting why he made the decision. I am happy we still talk, we send each other messages, na yule aliweka shetani mbaya ndani yake tutadeal nay eye kisiasa (and whoever put the bad demon in him, we will deal with him politically,” said Governor Sonko during the interview.

Governor Sonko also said that he will not be bullied as he only takes orders from the President and his Deputy.

Mr. Igathe, in a statement addressed to the media on January 12, said that he was resigning as the Nairobi’s Deputy Governor.

“I write to resign my seat as the elected Deputy Governor of Nairobi City County effective 1pm, Wednesday, 31st January 2018. Serving Kenyans, in Nairobi under your leadership, has been a high honour and distinct privilege. I am grateful to Nairobians and yourself for giving me the opportunity to serve. Thank you and please accept my highest personal regards,” read the statement.
