Eden Hazard ‘agrees’ to join European giants – snubs Chelsea’s new contract offer

Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich will have to start thinking early about who will replace in-form attacker Eden Hazard.

This is according to a Spanish outlet Radio Monte Carlo, which claims the Chelsea star, has decided to join European giants Real Madrid in the summer.

The Belgian has been a constant target throughout transfer windows and judging by the prevailing market conditions and the need for Los Blancos to improve, he might finally make the move to the Spanish Capital.

Real Madrid had excellent 2016, winning the Champions League and the FIFA Club World Cup just to add to their comprehensive trophy cabinet.

They have however struggled to replicate their previous season’s form, sitting fourth in the La Liga with 32 points after 17 games - 16 points behind log leaders Barcelona.

Zinedine Zidane’s men also have to cope with the fact that five-time Ballon D Or winner Cristiano Ronaldo is aging and they might have to replace him in the coming transfer window.

According to reports, Cristiano asked the club to lower his transfer fee, as allegations of tax fraud leveled against him last year pushed him to want to leave Spain. If Ronaldo s sold, Eden Hazard could be his most likely replacement.

Hazard is said to have declined the last two contract offers presented to him at Chelsea, revealing that the Belgian might have made up his mind on a move. His father, Thierry Hazard much recently revealed that his son had rejected a new contract offer at the blues.

“What I can reveal about Eden is that he refused a contract extension. This was so that, if necessary, he could follow the interest of Real, whom he could see himself playing for. As of right now, there is no contact from Real Madrid. Eden is only one of the parties involved in his future,” said Hazard’s father.
