GENIUS DECISION: Manchester United identify Carrick’s replacement and Man City fans will hate it

Manchester United’s longest-serving midfielder at the moment Michael Carrick is almost calling it quits at Old Trafford.

Carrick, who joined Sir Alex Ferguson’s side from Totten ham has been an instrumental part of the club’s growth, contributing to a number of memorable wins for the Red Devils.

Sadly, his time is almost up.

Jose Mourinho has to fill up the void that will be left by Carrick and has identified Napoli playmaker Jorginho as a worthy replacement.

The 26-year-old has been consistent for Napoli this season and even scored against United’s rivals Manchester City in the 4-2 defeat in the Champions League group phase.

Man City coach Pep Guardiola heaped praise on Jorginho after the clash, adding that Napoli was the best team he ever faced in his career as a manager.

So far this season, Jorginho has made 15 appearances for the Italians, scoring twice and providing three assists.

"Michael as a person is more important than Michael as a player," Mourinho said last month. "We gave him the time to relax, to recover, to feel confident, to make the decision, wants to play, wants to stop. He knows my coaching staff has a chair for him if he wants, when he wants, the chair is there in the office for him. I want that, the board wants that, the owners want that, so Michael is in a comfortable situation of his future will be with us. But he wants to be a player until the end of the season and now he feels confident to be back. ,” said Mourinho when responding to Carrick’s situation.

Manchester Evening News earlier in the year reported that Carrick has undergone a heart procedure but was back in training for Man United within no time.
