Problems at Arsenal? Alexis Sanchez’s celebration against Crystal Palace reveals rift

An early goal by German defender Shokdran Mustafi and a brace from Chilean Alexis Sanchez secured three points for Arsenal at Selhurst Park last night.

Crystal Palace, who are in a rather eventful transition period failed to win at home again in a tense match that saw Andros Townsend and James Tomkins score for Crystal Palace.

Though in all fairness Arsenal was expected to win this match and keep up with the title charge, there were doubts cast over Sanchez’s future, mainly after he scored the Gunners’ third goal.

Sanchez appeared to be asking his teammates to come celebrate with him as he ran to the corner, but no player on the pitch seemed bothered.

According to football pundits Thierry Henry and Graeme Souness, Sanchez’s celebrated raised questions whether there was unity in the Arsenal side.

“He is asking them to come. ‘Why are you not coming? Don’t you want to celebrate?” said Henry as he tried to explain Sanchez’s celebration.

He was never mobbed by the rest of the Gunners squad after he scored, probably due to the fact that they know the Chilean has already made up his mind.

Sanchez was close to a move away from London with Manchester City the closest suitors. The Citizens even offered in-form Raheem Sterling to Arsenal in exchange for Sanchez but it never matured.

According to Telegraph Football, the away fans never chanted the Chilean’s name but did so with Ozil's and Wilshere’s, who appeared to be the engine in the Arsenal team last night.

The win against Palace sees Arsene Wenger’s men tie points with London rivals Tottenham.
