Raila’s adviser explains next steps after swearing-in was postponed

National Super Alliance (NASA) leader Raila Odinga’s advisor Salim Lone in a statement ‘After Raila's postponed swearing in, the next steps’ explained what is to happen after the swearing-in of the Opposition leader was postponed.

National Super Alliance (NASA) Co-principal Musalia Mudavadi announced that swearing-in of NASA leader Raila Odinga and Kalonzo Musyoka as President and Deputy President of the Republic of Kenya was postponed.

“The swearing-in of Raila Odinga and Kalonzo Musyoka as President and Deputy President of the Republic of Kenya and the launch of the People’s Assembly scheduled for Tuesday, 12 December, has been postponed to a later date,” said Mudavadi.

In the statement, Mr Lone said that NASA supporters should recognize that Raila and their leadership could still do everything without the swearing-in of the NASA leader.

“Nasarites should recognize that Raila and their leadership can still do everything that they think is needed without having been sworn in. Those sworn in were not going to have command of the nation’s armed forces, or of the Treasury. Raila and NASA’s greatest strength is the number of Kenyans who back them,” read part of the statement.

Mr Lone also went ahead and said that Raila can still call his supporters to do a peaceful demonstration and back up demands that could paralyze the government and businesses.

“Whether as a symbolically sworn-in president or as NASA leader, he can call them to assemble or demonstrate peacefully to back up justified demands that could paralyze government and business. Biting economic boycotts could still be organized against more business operations that support dictatorship or other unlawful actions. County governments and Governors can enhance security and economic opportunities,” said Salim Lone.
