Some opposition legislators are happy as it opens another round of lobbying for the third most powerful position in the Lower House.
The post is third after that of the Speaker and Majority Leader and attracts perks and other benefits, including official cars.
Grapevine has it that Mbadi is being fought by his colleagues in ODM, who are either eying the seat or other positions in various committees.
It is understood that Mbadi’s win will force some Nyanza MPs to forfeit their bids for other seats for the sake of regional balance.
This has made them to fight the second term MPs bid. Mbadi, however, has Baba’s blessing and he is just hoping that stand remains for now.
