Msando murder suspect released after prosecution failed to provide enough grounds for his further detention

An accountant Andrew Kipkoech Rono, 58, was arrested over allegations that he sent a threatening message to Chris Msando before he was killed. Mr Kipkoech appeared before High Court Judge James Wakiaga.

The prosecution had earlier asked the court not to release Mr Kipkoech because he would have interfered with the investigations.

“A team of investigators has obtained mobile data, which is now undergoing forensic examination and could lead to the arrest of more suspects, we therefore pray that the suspect should not be released pending investigations,” heard the court.

It is said that Mr Kipkoech was Mr Msando’s landlord at Nyayo Estate in Nairobi until four years ago. However, Mr Kipkoech frequently communicated with Msando even after he moved out.

The accountant has however been released today, 4 September after prosecution failed to provide enough grounds for his further detention.
