Expect more chaos in the 12th Parliament.

The 11th Kenyan Parliament was marred by its fair share of chaos and “dishonourable” events. Names were called, fists were exchanged, faces were bruised and trousers torn.

As the Newly elected legislators were sworn in on 31 August 2017, I don’t expect much to change. In fact, I’m anticipating for a more rigorous, aggressive and a much controversial 12th Parliament.

With the addition of a new crop of fresh, energetic and controversial legislators, it seems that the August house will be hotter than it has ever been.

Controversial former SONU Chairperson Babu Owino, Embakasi West MP-elect, was forced to retake his oath after swearing his allegiance to Raila Odinga. This is a clear hint of what to expect from him.

With the addition of Babu Owino to the already fierce team of Millie Odhiambo, Gladys Wanga, Peter Kaluma from the previous house and their equals from Jubilee Party Aden Duale, Moses Kuria et al, expect fireworks.

Although some of the more aggressive lawmakers from the 11th Parliament such as Mpuru Aburi and Jakoyo Midiwo, the main players in the 2016 scuffle, will not be returning, I believe they have been replaced by the incoming fresh blood.

Legislators from the ruling party exchanged blows with their counterparts from the opposition on two occasions back in 2014 and 2016 over passing of contentious bills.

Some Members of Parliament are known for their bravery, outspokenness, handling things head-on and come what may, they never shy away from making their thoughts known.

When it comes to protecting the interest of their parties as well as those of their party leaders, certain members of parliament give their bodies and souls.
