Internet goes mad after Chelsea identify Nemanja Matic replacement

Serbian midfielder Nemanja Matic completed his switch from Chelsea to Manchester United for a reported fee of 40 million euros.

Matic, who is a long time admirer of Jose Mourinho reunited with his manager – United making the announcement of their Twitter and Facebook pages.

For Chelsea, all looks set as they look to have another successful season under Antonio Conte. The acquisition of Tiemoué Bakayoko from AS Monaco, Antonio Rudiger from AS Roma and Alvaro Morata from Spanish champions Real Madrid has been hailed by fans – with a month left to the end of the transfer window.

However, fans went wild on the internet after reports surfaced – indicating who Chelsea was keen on signing next.

Leicester City midfielder and England international Danny Drinkwater is the latest player to be linked with a move to Stamford Bridge.

Drinkwater was part of the Leicester side that went on to win the Premier League under Coach Claudio Ranieri, earning him a few call ups to the national squad.

Tottenham was also interested in signing Drinkwater for around 20 million but failed after their bid was rejected.

The loss of Nemanja Matic to Manchester United would ideally require Chelsea to fill the gap left – Drinkwater being the main target.

Fans on twitter went bonkers after the reports surfaced, most ridiculing the reports, suggesting Drinkwater is not yet Chelsea calibre.
