Romelu Lukaku makes his mark in Belgian’s first ever Manchester Derby

Lights, Camera, Action!

That’s what it felt like at the Manchester Derby in LA. Manchester United convincingly saw off rivals Manchester City 2-0 with Romelu Lukaku and Marcus Rashford each grabbing a goal in the first half.

The Manchester Derby, popular because of its fierce nature over the years has become one of the most watched matches in world football, with the two clubs at the moment competing for everything at the highest level.

Expensive players, quality players, players with class took to the pitch in the first ever Manchester Derby held outside England. In honour of the attacks in Manchester earlier in the year, both teams had a bee engraved at the centre of their jerseys – to remember those who lost their lives in the terror attacks.

Jose Mourinho had to make a statement by starting the game with a strong team – taking every single match seriously, a character he has induced at Manchester United since he took over last season.

Manchester City, having signed Bernardo Silva from Monaco and Kyle Walker from Spurs, fielded a relatively weaker side for the first half.

The win, to Man United players, felt like ‘good training session’ as most of them said – coming off a rather eventful season.

Man United won the EFL Cup, FA Community Shield and Europa League – restoring their Champions League status.

Pep Guardiola however was unsuccessful at Man City last season, failing to help the club lift any silverware.
