Barcelona agree fee for most wanted right back in the world

Football Club Barcelona and Portuguese outfit Benfica have reached an agreement on the transfer of highly rated Portugese right back Nelson Semedo.

The 23-year old, who showcased his prowess for Benfica last season in the Champions League, also for his National side in the Confederations Cup in Russia, has been linked with a number of major clubs across Europe, with Manchester United being among the pursuers.

But it seems the youngster has his heart set for a move to Spain to play for the Catalans, with a fee of around 30 million Euros on the table.

Barcelona confirmed this through their Twitter handle, saying, “Agreement with Benfica to sign Nélson Semedo, pending medical tests tomorrow in Barcelona.”

New Barcelona coach Ernesto Valverde looks set to transform his side to a more formidable side, capable of challenging at the highest level, after being eliminated so early in the Champions League and failing to retain the La Liga title.

Semedo, who made his debut for Portugal in 2015, has risen to become one of the best in the world, winning the league title with Benfica last season.

“At a height of 180cm, Semedo is an offensive full-back with superb physical attributes and he will be the ninth Portuguese to defend the Barça shirt,” was Barcelona’s statement after securing the deal.
