We have begun the journey to transform Kirinyaga - Waiguru

Kirinyaga County is on the verge of a developmental renaissance, Jubilee’s governorship candidate Anne Waiguru has said.

Addressing residents of Kagumo, Mwea, Kerugoya and Kagio after being cleared by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) Friday, Waiguru noted that she has already made efforts to revive projects that stalled under the current regime and launch new projects.

Waiguru said that she will prioritise the construction of the Mwea dam, and ensure the compensation of families located along the route where canals will pass through.

“The journey to move Kirinyaga to greater heights has kicked off. Just days after winning the nominations, we held a meeting with Deputy President William Ruto and asked the government to facilitate the issuance of title deeds and solve the issue of water shortage in Kirinyaga,” she said.

She further promised to stop the selling of stalls at Kagumo market which is being overseen by current Governor Joseph Ndathi and improve road network leading to the market to ensure efficient and timely transportation of goods.

Ms. Waiguru further promised to refurbish Kerugoya market and begin the expansion of Kagio market to accommodate more traders and improve road network to ease the movement of goods to the market if she wins the elections.

The former CS noted that will look into the issue of business permits and create favourable policies that will encourage investment in the county while revealing plans to meet the business community in Kagumo and other areas to discuss and seek solutions to their concerns.

The Kirinyaga gubernatorial aspirant called on Kirinyaga residents to vote for Jubilee candidates in the August 8 election to give the party huge numbers in the County Assembly, Parliament, and Council of Governors.

She noted that only Jubilee candidates understand the Jubilee manifesto which is the basis of President Uhuru Kenyatta’s re-election campaign and are sincere enough to implement it.

In what is seen as a change of tune, President Uhuru Kenyatta has also called on Jubilee supporters to vote for Jubilee candidates.

This comes as Jubilee candidates from Rift Valley region, Uasin Gishu Governor Jackson Mandago, the county’s woman representative candidate Gladys Shollei, Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi, and his Nandi Hills counterpart Alfred Keter called on their supporters to give Jubilee a six-piece vote.
