Kathy Griffin apologizes for anti-Trump photoshoot

American comedian and co-host of CNN’s annual New Year’s Eve coverage Kathy Griffins took it to her twitter on Tuesday to issue an apology for taking part in a celebrity photographer’s photo-shoot that featured her holding up a bloody head resembling President Donald Trump.

“I sincerely apologize. I am now seeing the reactions of these images. Am a comic, I cross the line, I move the line and I cross it. The images are too disturbing I now understand how it affects people,” said Griffins in her video that she posted on twitter.

She added that she is asking Tyler Shields to take down the photos. “Am going to ask the photographer (Tyler Shields) to take down the images and I beg for your forgiveness. I went too far and I was wrong.”

Shields, known for his provoking images on Tuesday released photos he had done with Griffin that straightaway were attacked by people on twitter.

Chelsea Clinton, daughter of Hillary Clinton called the photo ‘vile and wrong’

Trump’s son, Donald Trump Jr. through his twitter account commented on the same

“Dear CNN, I must have missed your statement banning your commentator, Kathy Griffin from your future show, please resend. Thanks.”

“It’s sad that the left today would rather see America suffer and fail than to see it succeed with Donald Trump at the helm,” he added.

Griffins was also accused of promoting violence against the president of the United States as questions rose of whether the incident would alter her rapport with CNN

“We found what she did disgusting and offensive, we are however pleased to see that she has apologized and asked the photos to be taken down. We are evaluating our New Year’s Eve coverage and have made no decision at this point," said the news network spokesperson.

Surprisingly, Griffin who happens to be a forthright critic of Donald Trump was aware that the the images would be contentious.

According to Shields posted a behind the scene video that showed Griffins and Shields saying that they were not afraid to do images that make noise. In the same video, the duo is seen reviewing the footage Griffin joking: “We have to move to Mexico today, but we’re going to go to prison, federal prison, we are not surviving this okay?
