Moi University student fighting for his life after being beaten up by a mob

A suspected thief who is a student at Moi University was on Friday seriously beaten by an angry mob for stealing a phone from a fellow student.

The student allegedly stole a phone from a colleague while they were having fun at the local club in the wee hours of the morning. The students upon realising that his phone was missing conducted a search and found the phone with the suspect.

A group of angry students at the club started throwing fists towards the suspect and demanded that he reveal the identity of his colleagues with whom he conducts business with.

 Upon receiving several blows from the angry mob the suspect resolved to reveal the colleagues' names whom he claimed lived in a nearby residential estate by the name Genesis. The suspect was frog marched to the residence where he was expected to reveal their identities but the mob's demands bore no fruits. This made them even angrier as they continued beating up the suspect.

Some students came to his rescue by calming down those who partook the action even though it took quite some time. The suspect was left breathlessly lying there on the muddy ground waiting to be picked by the local law enforcers.

Cases of theft in the area have risen alarmingly for these past few months no wonder this mob could not let the suspect go.
