President Uhuru Kenyatta hints on why Jubilee Government is borrowing

President Uhuru has come up categorically and explained why his government is being forced to borrow.This comes as opposition leaders are blaming President Uhuru Kenyatta regime for overborrowing and overburdening Kenyans with debts.

Issuing a press statement on Monday at Statehouse the president said that as a country we cannot grow unless we have access to resources. He further said that as a country we have no resources that is why he is borrowing so that he can grow the nation.

“Developed nations are where they are because they managed to access borrowing. That is why they have grown economically,” said Uhuru.

According to the president those who say that he is overborrowing they should be concerned if the government borrowing is being used and utilised for consumption or for recurrent expenditure.

 Additionally, he said that the government borrowing was going to investments such as roads, water, and health, things that are going to have a positive impact on our country in future and enable Kenya’s economy to even grow further.

Meanwhile, he added that as the President he cannot deny the fact that his government is borrowing but it was doing so for the good of this country.

“Yes, we cannot run away from the fact that we are borrowing.As a responsible government we are borrowing for investment in order to create growth in future and thereafter create opportunities and jobs,” added Uhuru.
