Nkaissery, Boinnet should resign over Kerio Valley killings

The continued cattle-rustling and banditry in Baringo, Marakwet and West Pokot is a clear indication that Interior Cabinet Secretary Joseph Nkaissery and Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinnet have failed to fulfil their mandate to protect Kenyans.

It is saddening to see lives being lost almost daily in Kerio Valley, especially in Marakwet and Baringo, yet no action is being taken to stop this.

Kenyans are tired of the frequent statements by the CS and the IG that measures are being taken to restore law and order in the region, only for such assurances to be accompanied by more killings of innocent people.

What remains now is for the two leaders to own up and tell Kenyans that they are unable to restore security, and make way for more competent people to take charge.

Residents of Kerio Valley may have thought that Mr Boinnet understands the problem well, but they were wrong.

If anything, the situation is worsening, subjecting the people to untold suffering as they cannot engage in any development activities.

It is shocking to see that human life and livestock are lost daily and the two seem unshaken.
