THIS IS WHY THE EAST AFRICA GOSPEL AWARDS WAS POSTPONED

It came as a shock and a huge surprise when the East Africa Gospel Awards was abruptly postponed to an unknown date. The awards had attracted over five thousand established and upcoming gospel artists in East Africa.

The East Africa Gospel Awards was officially launched in 14th January 2015 with the sole aim of helping artists discover, nature and empower their talents. Besides gospel music, the awards are combined with fashion and design fraternity.

Speaking on why they had to postpone the awarding ceremony, the founder of the award, Faith Emiloyo Daksha says “We had to delay the awarding ceremony due to late responses from sponsors.” Faith Daksha is an established gospel artist and a fashion designer.

“The awarding ceremony was set to take place on 3rd December 2016 at KICC, but we have postponed it to an unknown date this year. We shall use nominees from last year,” she said.

The five thousand gospel artists from Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, Uganda, South Sudan and Burundi had undergone an intensive selection criterion to which the public was allowed to vote for them. The artists who received an outstanding number of votes were nominated.

There was a grand gala on 28th October 2016 at Royal Orchid Hotel in Westlands where the nominees were unveiled. Both local and well known international artists proceeded to the final stage of selection process.
