Wanyama named African Player of the Month

Kenya’s captain and midfielder Victor Wanyama has been named January’s Premier League African player of the month by a highly celebrated and renown online magazine.

New African Soccer Magazine is an England-based monthly publication that highlights the best of African football. It focuses on highlighting and giving spotlight to all players from Africa in the English Premier League.

Spur’s Wanyama, Manchester city’s Yaya and Victor Moses for Chelsea were shortlisted for the month of January.

Nigeria and Chelsea’s midfielder, Victor Moses is the most successful as far as this award goes, having won twice this season.

In December, Ivorian Yaya Toure who plays for Man City won the award.

Here is the breakdown of winners since August last year when the season kicked off.

August- Eric Bailly, Ivory Coast and Manchester United

September- Sadio Mane, Senegal and Liverpool

October, November- Victor Moses, Nigeria and Chelsea

December- Yaya Toure, Ivory Coast and Manchester City

January- Victor Wanyama, Kenya and Tottenham Hotspur
