January PL Awards: Dele Alli and Andy Carroll shine

Tottenham Hotspur midfielder, Dele Alli, has won player of the month award for January. Last month he scored twice against Watford in a 4-1 away win and repeated the same exploit three days later as Spurs ended Chelsea 13-game winning streak with a 2-0 win at White Hart Lane. The 20-year old England international also scored in a two all draw against Manchester City at Etihad.

Other contenders in the category were his team-mate Harry Kane, Everton’s right-back Seamus Coleman, Gunners forward Alexis Sanchez and Swansea City forward Gylfi Sigurdsson.

He took the award from Manchester United forward Zlatan Ibrahimovic who had won in December.

The goal of the month award went to West Ham’s striker Andy Carroll.

His acrobatic bicycle strike against Crystal Palace on 14th January outdid Olivier Giroud’s scorpion kick- that is according to football pundits and commentators and fans. Carroll’s overhead kick earned him his first Premier League award.

Carroll has scored six goals this season and he seeks to increase the tally as they host West Bromwich Albion this weekend. Henrikh Mkhitaryan had won it in December last year.

Englishman and Swansea manager Paul Clement scooped manager’s award for January. This is his first month in charge after replacing Bob Bradley on 3rd January.

He has registered three wins in four completions, lifting the Swans away from relegation.

Clement won over Crystal Palace, Southampton and helped Swansea bag all three points at Anfield for the first time where Liverpool went down by two goals.

Paul Clement is the first Swansea manager to take the award since 2014 when Gary Monk won.

Other challengers for the managerial prize were: Ronald Koeman(Everton), Mark Hughes (Crystal Palace) and Mauricio Pochettino(Spurs). In December, Chelsea boss, Antonio Conte won the award.
