KENYANS' CELEBRATION OF AMINA'S LOSS AT AU A CRY FOR HELP

UREPORT
By Brian Guserwa | February 3rd 2017

Students of Kenyatta University have come out to express their sorrow at the passing of their colleague, Mercy Mokeira (pictured), who was a student at the university.

The former Miss World Nyamira County died on Sunday, January 28, 2017, at North Kinangop Hospital after a baffling illness. She had been treated for thyroid complications in mid-December, after which she was discharged. Sadly, she was admitted again in January after her condition appeared to worsen, and passed away on that fateful morning.

Tributes have since been pouring in, from models who worked with her to former classmates. According to her classmates, Mercy was a brave trendsetter and an inspiration to many. She was a regular on the campus modeling scene, having been voted the KUSA model of the year for 2016. For them, the news comes as an absolute shock. Comrades hosted a candle lit vigil for the 23-year-old at the university, to honour the memory of one of their own.
