WILL I SEE MY FAMILY AGAIN?

We are losing our gallant soldiers. Yes, our expensively and well-trained brothers, sisters, mothers, and fathers are dying- just like flies.

I could not hold my emotions last evening when I witnessed a number of vans bringing into a morgue I had visited decomposing bodies of those we cherish, who take care of their families and their loved ones.

Just imagine, after Christmas, you bid your family and friends 'goodbye we shall meet soon.' Only for the soon to be indefinite because you are going to be killed, not in a battlefield but in a camp.

I am not a soldier, I have not been in any military training but in my naivety I can tell that something is amiss.

The entire night, sleep deserted me and it kept on mocking at me. I kept wriggling in my bed when I remembered a village mate who, for the love of family and country went out to duty called on by his bosses whose mission I cannot tell.

But yes, he will be dressed in a black suit a white shirt and maybe a brown coffin draped in a Kenyan flag country ' he went to fight for' and just after a few gun salutes he will be lowered into the six feet ground on the compound of his once called home, indeed it becomes a permanent one for him.

He will be gone. His story will be gone in his young adulthood. Those that used to receive a stipend from him, it shall not come.

Someone's heart somewhere is broken, her dreams shattered. She will wait on another one again maybe. That is the lives of our soldiers who why they are wherever they still remain a myriad.

Let me delve into this matter of a military camp; as I have said, I never attended any military training but I have watched so many movies with military action.

In fact, on an occasion, I had a dream that I was in combat and I was doing pretty good in as commander.

A camp ( as I have always seen) has someone in a small house elevated in a corner somewhere.

A sentry- he is able to see a thousand meters away. And unless a sniper compromises him, he switches on the alarm which alerts the other fighters.

In other camps, we have sniper agents who are camouflaged strategically placed they will always signal the others in the main camp in case of an imminent attack.

What happened to our soldiers? Could they not be able to know when 500 insurgents were coming for their blood? Where is our government, why are they not telling us the truth?
