Hard life is not always a choice

News
This is the story of a hopeless boy who grew up thinking about education. He is the second born in a family of four.He grew up thinking about how he could improve the lifestyle of his kinsmen. He faced a lot of challenges because of his poor background. His family never enjoyed life, because they did not have an opportunity to go to school. His grandfather learned the art of making mats using papyrus reeds that grew at the shows of Lake Victoria. Through this, he was only able to cater for food that was needed by his family. His two wives worked as casual laborers in the neighborhood in order to substitute other basic needs such as clothing. Education was a hard bone to crush for their children since they could not afford to pay their school fees. The boy's grandmother resorted to brewing alcohol after realizing that life was getting tougher. Her children were frequently chased out of because of unpaid school fees. The children started fending for themselves by working for a prominent politician in the region. Whenever they missed the opportunity at the politician’s home, they were forced to do fishing in Lake Victoria. Their grandmother finally decided to take a break from marriage life and went to Athi River with her children except one of her daughter and son who was so attached to their father. While in Athi River, she went on with her business of brewing. Life became unbearable for the two who were left behind at home because their father shifted attention from them. The man was busy with the wife of his late brother who he had inherited. The two finally dropped out of school and started engaging in daily hustles. The daughter got married and the son decided to follow his mother in Athi River. While there he realized that his mother had developed more interest with his brother who was by then married and landed a job at a nearby slaughterhouse as a driver. The son then decided to rent his house and started working as a miner in a nearby quarry station. This is where he met his wife.Back in the village, some rich men had contributed some money to build a primary school. His grandfather was given the responsibility of guarding the construction materials. While on duty she was attacked and killed. After the death of his mother the son sent his wife and children back to the village due to hard economic times. While there, she worked as a house help and sold local brew. Her eight-year-old son who also worked as a herd's boy always emerged as the best pupil in her class every time they did an exam.Unfortunately, this boy was anemic. On the other hand, his sister did well in her form four exams and through the struggle of her father, she was taken to college. On her completion, she landed a job with a local university as a laboratory technician. This brought a total change in their life as a family. The boy has so far written a biology book and other several story books which are yet to be published. At least there is light at the end of the tunnel. The hardship the family has experienced has never deterred them from moving on.Through challenges, they have been able to shape their lives.
