23-year-old cancer patient hopeful even as doctors give him 3 months to live

News

The story of Abdiaziz Aden is one that touched my heart after I saw it on television. He is a 23-year-old born cancer patient from Korogocho slums in Nairobi. His dreams and hopes of surviving even after doctors in India told him that he had 3 months to live is very inspiring. His leg had to be amputated because of the cancer and also to prevent the cancer from spreading but it was too late.

The cancer spread up to his head and that is when his family asked for help to take him to India to seek medical attention. The doctors told his father, Isaaq Aden, that if they did the surgery, his son would still not survive and even asked him to sign some papers if he was willing to risk the life of his son. The emotional father chose not to risk the life of his son and that is when doctors gave him painkillers to reduce the pain and he returned to Kenya.

It is inspiring how Kenyans have contributed to help him live his wish and that is to go to Hajj pilgrim, Mecca. Abdiaziz says that he believes that going to Mecca would heal him and he is very optimistic about it. He says that he would be grateful to God if he comes back alive and that is what we are all hoping for.

The fact that he is still smiling and telling people not to lose hope only shows how courageous this man is. He is so young yet very positive even when the doctors told him that it would be a miracle if he sees 2017.

I really want to thank all the Kenyans who have been supporting him and his family. This only shows how compassionate Kenyans can be. My only hope is that Abdiaziz Aden will recover from the dreadful disease so that he can live to fulfill all his dreams. Let us all pray for him and his family and may God grant him all his wishes.
