DP William Ruto should stop insulting leaders

Deputy President William Ruto has been busy going around the country to popularise the new Jubilee Party ahead of next year’s elections.

While this is fine as everyone else is doing it, I am concerned with the way the DP has been attacking those with opposing views. He has been hurling insults at those opposed to him, especially in the Rift Valley and this is definitely work against him.

Kenya is a democratic country and Ruto should understand that everyone has a right to join a party of their choice. The fact that he is the deputy president does not mean everyone in Rift Valley should follow him.

His visits to western Kenya, Bomet and Baringo counties have particularly annoyed many who did not like the way he attacked local leaders.

It is important that the DP drops the arrogance and embraces consultations. His obsession with Jubilee and thinking that another opinion does not matter is ill-advised. Jubilee will not be able to unite Kenyans if the party will be built on ethnic groups.
