Not enough is done to protect Palestinians

When you look at what has been happening in Palestine since 1967, you will be left speechless.

The natives of the land of Palestine continue to live in a never-ending conflict, under an authority that doesn't recognise them or their rights.

One keeps on wondering how the word 'occupation' still exists today when it's supposed to be a term taught only in history books.

Since the start of this conflict in Palestine, peace has only been an anonymous symbol.

Israel has maintained its military occupation of Palestinian territories since 1967. It has taken over Palestinian lands and built settlements on them for its own population in violation of international law.

Israel denies Palestinians freedom of movement through the institution of checkpoints, the separation wall around the West Bank and the siege on Gaza. Therefore, Israel controls the economy, water and electricity.

Palestinians living under the Israeli occupation don't have the right to vote in the system that dominates their lives. And when they try to resist, they are portrayed as violent forgetting that resistance is an inevitable result of the occupation.

Unfortunately, the biased international media has always tried to exonerate Israel as an ethnic supremacist State from its guilt regarding ethnic cleansing.

Many political analysts, activists and others fear being portrayed as anti-Semites. Conservative discourse surrounding anti-Semitism itself actually functions to shield Israeli society from the criticism that it deserves.

It's a known fact that the ultimate goal of this unilateral injustices is, to force Palestinians to give up all their national demands in their homeland. But for generation after generation, the Palestinian people have proven their will is unbreakable.

The Palestinians are yearning for their freedom, for their future, for justice in the full sense of the words. But one day the Palestinian flag that was recently raised with pride at the UN will fly over the walls of the Old City of Jerusalem to signal Palestine independence.
