In recent weeks after the concluded Malindi elections, we have witnessed how the Jubilee machinery is being used to frustrate the opposition and its members including governors. From the closure of businesses, withdrawal of body guards and criminal charges being brought against certain governors. While all these has been happening the leader of the opposition has been out and about visiting respectable countries and giving lectures at reputable institutions.
Anyone with knowledge will clearly see the government is out to frustrate the opposition by any means possible and keep them busy chasing meaningless accusations against their members; it is clearly being done to belittle the status of the opposition and its three big names Raila, Kalonzo and Wetangula. The opposition is comprised of lawyers and respectable persons who can deal with the accusations being leveled at other members. The likes of James Orengo, Ababu Namwamba should be the ones left to deal with the petty charges being thrown left and right by the government.
It is disappointing and belittling to see Raila, who enjoys an international recognition and respect for his work, having to come back home and defend his deputy party leader and other members from police commissioners and tramped up charges, he is above the petty games of the government and should let his juniors do the political cockfights of supremacy, this in turn will go to show the government that he is beyond their petty games and supremacy battles
When people who were clearly found trying to bribe voters in Malindi are suddenly the innocent victims of "robbery with violence" the big three of CORD shouldn't bother engaging the government in these fights, it gives these charges credibility that they otherwise lack and lowers their dignity as top leaders. It also makes them look powerless against certain entities that seem to have been instructed to frustrate them at every level possible.
By engaging the government in these cheap fights, they are kept busy chasing ghosts that add no value to CORD’s agenda, but instead portray CORD as puppets to be toyed around with.
