How fires in schools can be controlled

Incidences of fire gutting down various facilities of public learning institutions in the country have been rampant of late. This can be prevented by simply equipping the institutions with firefighting gear.

From primary schools to varsities, all institutions have fallen victim of recent breakouts with all cases of tragedy being attributed either to the lack of fire-fighting gear or lack of knowledge on how to make use of the available combative gear.

This thus has resulted in fatal consequences as institutional facilities are left at the mercy of fire when breakouts occur. We end up then losing very critical facilities due to our lack of preparedness.

These facilities require lots of financial input to reinstall, something way beyond these institutions’ financial capabilities.

It takes the commitment of collective teamwork between the government and respective communities to get these institutions rebuilt.

This validates the need for speedy action to ensure that caution is taken by acquiring these equipment in time for the safety of our facilities.

More consideration should also be put in the need to train academic, sub-ordinate staff and learners on the efficient use of these equipment and the measures to take in case of future breakouts. This way, facilities in our learning institutions will be better secured.
