It's time to audit employees papers

The Government must urgently intervene to curb the use of fake certificates. The recent discovery of a policeman who rose through the ranks in the Administration Police to the position of superintendent before the vetting commission smoked him out, is a confirmation of the painful reality of how corruption has permeated into every system of government.

Charles Nyakeri used his cousin Nelson Omwenga‘s certificate to get recruited into the police force over two decades ago. For the last 22 years, Mr Nyakeri alias Nyakundi rose through the ranks in the Administration Police to the position of superintendent before the National Police Service Commission smoked him out in the ongoing vetting of police officers.

The trend of people using fake documents to gain jobs is worrying. We have even heard of university lecturers who possess fake certificates yet the teach in top institutions!

The proliferation of fake academic certificates in your government is wanting and needs to be addressed urgently.

We urge President Uhuru Kenyatta to kindly order an audit of all civil servants academic papers and extend the same to organisations, institutions and companies.

Fake certificates are also presented by those seeking to join institutions of higher learning for admission. This is where the Commission for University Education ought to crack the whip to ensure only deserving students get admission.
