It was a bold step declaring corruption a national security threat

Kudos Mr. President for declaring corruption a national security threat. Indeed it is the most serious security threat in our nation in the wake of spiraling terrorism. Dangerous foreigners are able to corrupt their way into our system, acquire identification cards and go about their businesses. It is a bold step to declare corruption a national security threat, and rest assured, all Kenyans are with you.

It is a fight that we must win collectively as a nation irrespective of our political and religious divide. Corruption has thrived far too long in our society and the time is now to rectify the situation for a better society now and for years to come. Mr. President this fight will not be an easy one, but with your commitment and resolve, we the citizens will join and help you deliver our nation from the jaws of corruption. Your blue print sounds great and if implemented at will and without fear or favor can stop and eradicate the corruption tide that has been sweeping across the nation.

In the current situation, people don’t believe in hard work anymore. Kenyans are aware that all the millionaires in town were either government employees or individuals well connected to the government. On the other hand, hardworking Kenyans always find themselves enslaved by the corrupt system.Despite paying taxes they again have to give officers "kitu kidogo," to get services. Hard working people in our society; teachers, lecturers and doctors are not respected anymore, because their money is hard-earned and cannot afford to give away millions in harambees, whereas class seven dropouts, working in collaboration with government officials are  mobile ATMs, adored in our society. We have reached that point in our nation where selling the idea that hard work pays is stupid and laughable. Imagine a police officer just in three years accumulating  more than a doctor will earn in salaries  his or her entire life.

Mr. President, the topic of corruption has been spiraling out of control in the recent past and it is prudent that while you maintained your silence, you have demonstrated that you acknowledged the need for a new direction. Kenyans also understand that it is not your war, it is collectively ours, just champion and lead the way. We the citizens must be prepared to lose some friends whom are corrupt along the way. We also have to question going forward those who gloat about wealth acquired through corruption and single them out. As you rally the nation to this necessary and important course Mr. President, also be prepared to lose some friends. Winning this fight will be the greatest achievement in the history of our nation. You will be celebrated as the president who restored sanity in our society, even if it means you become a one term president. The notion of one term, two term or ten terms is bogus if at the end of it, you exit the presidency with no legacy. Better be a one term president with a legacy than exiting at the end of two terms and leaving behind a failed state. I mean corruption fights back, and within no time the nation will be held at ransom with references such as, “our tribe is being vilified.” The corrupt are not tribe but individuals, who should and must carry their own crosses, though we expect politics to gets into the way. Please shun the politics and implement that blue print boldly.
