Bahati: I am cleared, no one can remove me from the ballot

Singer Kevin Bahati says he will not drop his bid from the Mathare Member of Parliament race.

In an interview with Vybez radio, the political aspirant stated that he had been cleared by the IEBC and that is the only go ahead he requires.

He further told Vybez that he won’t step down because no youth has been given an opportunity in this government.

“The only go ahead my party leader was to give me was my certificate and they took my name to the IEBC. The next go ahead according to the law I was given by the IEBC and I was cleared,” he said adding that only he, can remove himself from the ballot at this point.

In a previous meeting between ODM and Jubilee delegates, ODM secretary general Edwin Sifuna said that Bahati would step aside from the race for Anthony Aluoch who is also eyeing the MP’s seat.

Bahati however termed Sifuna's sentiments as propaganda and claimed that Aluoch may have bribed his way to endorsement.

“We had a meeting a week ago. When the polls came out I was the stronger candidate. Aliingiza mabeshte zake akawapee kitu ndio akuje wamwendorse."

This is not a first, Early this year, the popular musician broke into tears after he was asked to step down for an ODM (Orange Democratic Movement) candidate in the parliamentary race.

Bahati however remains firm that nobody can withdraw him from the race.
