Boarding school teaches kids the hard and soft sides of life

Last week, most secondary schools took a mid-term break. I am sure most of the remaining schools will have their mid-term this week. I have a child who joined Form One and unlike the boy who wanted a day school, the girl wanted to experience boarding school life. This reminded me of our older days when we all wanted to go to boarding schools.

I think it was because we thought it was good to fly away from our parents’ nests and experience a different kind of life. Most of us wanted to go to boarding school as it was an adventure. The stories of bullying in school and people eating a diet that one was not used to in some homes was also a motivation.
