Number one golden rule of night clubbing: Never ever take a stranger to your house

Now that clubbing is partially back and we know that a lot of people earn from, bars pubs and restaurants, most businesses have been on the overdrive as they try to compensate for lost time.

Today I am not talking about the normal and working person. I am referring to the lazy thugs out on the prowl as they seek to take advantage of the innocent and vulnerable. In security, we say one should always be on colour code yellow.

That means being alert especially when it comes to resumption of normalcy after a prolonged interruption.

It is similar to when a thug buys a ticket to attend a big concert, well aware he will most likely have stolen more that the cost of the ticket by the time the event comes to a close.

The reopening of bars and restaurants is often followed by numerous reports of drugging and theft of patrons’ valuables. In some instances, we have also heard of deaths resulting from drugging of victims.

1. Be alert

Some criminals have even taken to using scopolamine, a recreational drug that is also know as the “Devil’s breath” as it can make one a zombie and obey any command. Criminals are using it to get bank passwords and others for date rapes. The worst thing is it can be applied by blowing it on one’s face or rubbing unlike the so-called “mchele “ that one puts in a drink.

2. Never ever take a stranger to your house

Having experienced the nightlife, I would like to advice the young ones that not everyone out there is of good soul.
As one Vincent Kiprop, noted the Number One Golden Rule is Never ever take a stranger to your house.

The days of “Chips funga” where one picks a stranger from a drinking joint and takes her home are long gone. If you didn’t enjoy it like the way some of us did when growing up, just read it on magazines like history.

The world has become a very dangerous place. Other people think that because they have security, they can do this but we have read of cases of ladies spending as long as one day at your home patiently waiting for you to drop your guard. They will then drug you and rob you clean, your so-called security notwithstanding.

3. Young men, always learn to be mean.

The way you don’t buy credit or send money to strangers, don’t entertain a lady you don’t know. Don’t listen to them, buy drinks or accept a drink. Keep away from ladies who drink Monday to Friday in a pub. Chances are, it is their place of work.

4. Finish your drink before going to the washrooms

Just the way ladies have been trained to do. The same applies to when you are going to the dancing floor.
If it is a bottle, leave it with the manager or bartender before going to the loo. If you are outgoing, befriend a bouncer who will be looking out for you and even warn you when someone who has bad motives approaches you.
Learn to take a beer by the bottle rather than a glass.

Always make sure the bottle is opened in front of you. If you are doing tots, it is safer to go get it directly from the counter as some of the bar workers work in cahoots with criminals.
Learn to know your drinking limit and go home when you start staggering and always let your friends know where you live so as to escort you to the right matatu stage.

5. Avoid strangers

I will repeat- again (sic): Avoid strangers in entertainment joints; when the deal is too good pinch your self and run away; and remember you are not the most handsome guy in the club to make you the point of attraction for all the beautiful ladies. Remember, you went to the club alone and, therefore, always leave alone. This will save you a lot.
