It's complicated: Why cops are overzealous and ruthless with ordinary citizens

Often, it is hard to tell if cops enjoy causing pain; or they are just faithful and overzealous executioners of the so-called ‘orders from above’.

As enforcers of law and order, they also serve, unfortunately, as its unenviable face. This puts them right at the centre of things, when the supposed orders are turned into actions.
