Man sentenced to three years behind bars for stealing cop's underwear

A man, who stole underpants belonging to the National Youth Service officer, has been slapped with a three year jail term. Stephene Ochieng pleaded guilty to the offences of burglary and possession of stolen property belonging to Anthony Munene Njeru, who lived within the NYS headquarters.

The court heard that Ochieng’ broke into the complainant’s house early in the morning and stole the underwear, a subwoofer and a claw hammer, all valued at Sh4,900.

A security guard, who saw the accused breaking into the complainant’s house, raised the alarm forcing other NYS personell to restrain and arrest the accused. The complainant was at the time preparing to wake unaware of the theft.
The accused was presented before Makadara Chief Magistrate Heston Nyaga where a prosecution witness revealed that had been jailed five years ago for a similar offence. However, he told the court that he had been charged with bhang trafficking. 

The court noted that the accused is among those who have been tormenting city residents and had not reformed even after serving jail. He was sentenced to three years imprisonment.
